Nestled in the heart of Federal Way, Marlene's Natural Foods & Deli is a vibrant haven for those passionate about organic living and wholesome nourishment. More than just a store, Marlene’s is a thoughtfully curated two-floor experience that seamlessly blends a natural goods market with a deli and health food restaurant, providing customers a well-rounded approach to health and indulgence under one roof.
Step inside and you’ll immediately notice the calm, welcoming atmosphere that customers praise as both peaceful and inviting. The first floor boasts an impeccably organized selection of purely organic groceries—from fresh produce to grains and hard-to-find pantry staples like brown rice flour. According to Jodie H-L, the variety here is truly distinctive: “At least 68 varieties of organic apples this fall found nowhere else in the area.” This level of quality and diversity is a rare find, and although some might consider prices on the higher side, the exceptional freshness and specialty items make it more than worthwhile.
Venture upstairs and discover a delightful surprise: a charming deli and cosmetics section that many initially overlook. One customer, Steven, describes this “whole new world upstairs” with excitement, uncovering fresh baked goods and a quiet deli seating area that invites you to relax and savor natural food crafted with care. The beauty products section is especially noteworthy, featuring unique health and beauty items you won’t easily find elsewhere, as Patrick Ndirangu highlights: “Go upstairs too for beauty products. It's splendid.”
The store’s commitment to customer experience shines through in the friendly, knowledgeable staff who are always ready to assist, enhancing the overall visit. J’s review captures this perfectly: “The employees are always very pleasant and helpful.” The synergy between the store’s thoughtfully sourced products and the warm customer service creates an environment where wellness feels accessible and enjoyable.
For those balancing quality and affordability, Marlene's strikes a satisfying chord. SBseattle appreciates it as a reliable alternative to wholesale giants and higher-priced markets, remarking on the reasonable pricing for organic produce, grains, and breads. Whether you're stopping by for a quick natural snack, shopping for comprehensive health supplements, or craving a wholesome meal in the deli’s quiet seating area, Marlene’s caters to your needs with authenticity and care.
In all, Marlene's Natural Foods & Deli is more than a store—it’s a community staple for anyone embracing a health-conscious lifestyle, offering a diverse, high-quality selection with a personal touch that resonates deeply with customers.
I love Marlene's so much! Really healthy and tasty foods and snacks as well as health and beauty products that you don't really find anywhere else! Really nice, quiet and calm environment, both inside and outside. I also love that it has two floors! The employees are always very pleasant and helpful as well!
Well arranged purely organic store, easy to find stuff you are looking for. Their supplements section is very worth visiting. Go upstairs too for beauty products. It's splendid. Did I say their prices are really fair and staff truly friendly too?
Love love love this outfit. When I don’t shop Costco for large quantity and great prices … and I don’t like the high prices of Metro Market … , I shop Marlene’s for organic produce, grains and breads at very reasonable prices. I just discovered they have a Tacoma store and cannot wait to check it out.
Excellent selection of at least 6-8 varieties of organic apples this fall found nowhere else in area. Excellent produce quality and hard to find items. I could not find brown rice flour in other natural food stores but Marlene's had it. Prices are rather high but selection and quality are unbeatable!
It's a whole new world upstairs. Marlene’s Market and Deli is like a grocery store that sells natural food with a restaurant right inside of it. I have been to Marlene’s many times before but never realized there’s a deli upstairs. Glad I asked an employee downstairs about the fresh baked goods, and she directed me upstairs. All this time I thought upstairs is only for employees. That's not the case and I have pictures to prove it :) Boy, they got a salad bar, sandwich, and deliciously baked goods! There's plenty of seating for customers as well. Be sure to check it out the next time you're at Marlene’s Market & Deli.
I’ve been shopping at Marlene’s Market & Deli in Federal Way for 6+ years. Appreciate the convenient location near the I5 freeway, ample parking & customer seating, and the elevator located at the back of the vitamin aisles. I shop at Marlene’s mostly for the variety of organic and local selections rarely found nearby. With prices more moderate than other natural food store competitors. The kind, friendly, professional staff - like Joyce, John, others - make this a store I look forward to shopping at. Sometimes a short wait to ask advice - some customers can be quite chatty. But it's understandable. Sometimes a short explanation of one’s health journey is needed to obtain the applicable vitamins, minerals, and product selections. Looking just like their website photo’s, the 1st floor has nice selections of: fresh fruits & vegetables, dairy, breads, and bulk: snacks, coffees, teas, spices, grains, and more. But I usually start upstairs to place my order at the deli / smoothie bar. While waiting, I shop the soup & salad bar, and sections with fresh pre-made: sandwiches. Then onto the fresh baked goods, with pies & cakes sold by the slice! More health-focused than most other stores, it is more a market, deli, grocery store, rolled into one. Marlene’s, and helpful employees like John, are some of the reasons my health has actually improved over the years since I’ve been shopping there. Highly recommend: Great salmon cakes & samosas, Awesome pumpkin cheesecake slices.
